Our client is one of the largest FM companies in the UK. They manage an extensive wide range portfolio of buildings on a nationwide basis covering many types of industries in both the public and private sectors.

Protest were exhibiting at a major facilities management event and were approached by several members of this FM business who were interested in speaking to us and to understand our scope of services. From an initial brief meeting at our exhibition stand a formal meeting and presentation was quickly arranged and took place within a few days at their main headquarters. This FM business also carried out due diligence on our business making sure we had all the correct insurance and certification in place and framework partner rates were agreed for a wide range of electrical testing compliance and fire safety services.

Approach and methodology
Following the successful meeting, a two month trial of a section of sites was given to us with a view to us becoming a long term main framework partner to them for UK nationwide coverage. Our specification of works, key account management, reports process, open an honest pricing policy along with our multi skilled engineers were the key features to our partnership in not only helping them achieve legal compliance but also to provide major costs savings for the client.
The FM business wanted to streamline the number of sub-contractors and after a successful two month trail we were then awarded many hundreds of buildings across the UK on a five year rolling project. This included a full range of electrical testing compliance services, fire door inspections and fire stopping works. In addition to these statutory compliance services we also carry out a lot of electrical project, re-furb and installation works, fire door installations, fire stopping and LV panel installation works.
Electrical Compliance challenges presented
• Achieve compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 with a defined structured PPM
• Achieve compliance with the latest fire safety regulations
• Ensure that any potential health and safety issues are quickly addressed and highlighted
• All remedial and installation project works are conducted in a timely manner
• Collation of all electrical documents for the whole site are safely held electronically in one place
• Paperless reporting that can be held and viewed at all times securely online
• Peace of mind for the duty holder(s) on site who are deemed responsible for health and safety

• Use multi skilled engineers to deliver more than one service at within the same visit
Resulting outcome
Protest were also able to provide the client with significant cost savings whilst also minimising disruption on their sites and more importantly making sure the client met their statutory legal obligations and insurance needs. Our multi skilled engineers deliver services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, this flexibility allows our engineers to work in and around the clients sites thus causing minimal disruption. Strict KPI’s were put in place and always adhered to, this ensures a quick turnaround of reports and remedial quotations to enable the client to constantly be in control of demonstrating their compliance and meeting their strict PPM attendance schedules.
